cinco de mayo

American Gold Last Tango Dress / Simone Camille Stevie Bag / Zara Heels

Don’t worry guys, despite how my face looks, I’m actually not unhappy. Greeting you all a Happy Cinco de Mayo from Olvera Street, one of the oldest streets in Downtown that’s home to a Mexican marketplace and the most authentic tacos in all of LA. For this occasion I wore out my prized dress from Spanish Moss, a piece that has the tendency to unhinge when I walk. This definitely worked out in my favor when what began as a full coverage dress exposed a front slit with a single gust of wind. Fickle weather patterns are made for dresses like this, when an unexpectedly cold day lends itself a Marilyn moment.

the bomber

Finally wore out my favorite jacket of the century: A reversible Isabel Marant Hawaii bomber from the Summer 2012 collection. I bought it last year for a fraction of the price, but put it away in storage with the rest of my summer clothes up until I flipped my lid looking for a dress a week or two ago. Paired it with a matching knit tube top and pencil skirt combination from Marciano before running out a late lunch of bánh mì sandwiches in Silverlake. That’s one of the things I love most about this jacket, how quickly it can dress down a look just with its shape and size. Now let’s see how well it looks beach side next…

spring thing

What occurred as a failed brunch mission turned out to be an opportune moment to shoot in front of Eat Drink Americano. Normally this restaurant front is crowded with small tables and business men on their lunch hour, but when we found that the kitchen was closed for the day, this bougainvillea immediately became the backdrop for this post. After arriving home from New York just the night before, coming home to a place with an abundance of sunshine at 5 in the afternoon couldn’t have been a better way to spend my first day back in LA. As much as my every part of me longs to be in New York, Los Angeles is so damn beautiful in the spring. Even the adrenaline of being in New York couldn’t compare to coming home. I’ve come to terms that Southern California is not a bad place to come home to. No, not at all.
