As you may already tell, when it comes to picking a part of town to hang out in Los Angeles, I stick to the East side. The Arts District in downtown is one of them. Marked by funky art installations, hole-in-the-wall cafe’s, Wurstküche, trendy passerby’s, and quirky buildings that make for picture-perfect photo ops. The walking distance to all my friend’s store fronts and favorite showrooms elevates this bias. Once you get over the obvious disadvantage of walking around downtown (which is the major disadvantage in all major cities), you can really warm up to the smell of bacon-wrapped hot dogs and start to appreciate this side of town. Tall buildings with lots of character, just like much of its quirky residents.
